Your questions about our Sexual Health Solutions answered.
Fountain evaluates concerns such as erectile difficulties, low sexual desire, reduced arousal, changes in sexual responsiveness, and other changes in sexual function. Sexual health is influenced by much more than one hormone or one physical mechanism. Hormones, cardiovascular health, medications, mood, stress, sleep, relationship factors, and other medical conditions can all play a role. Understanding which part of sexual function has changed is the first step toward choosing the right treatment.
These treatments work in different ways and are not interchangeable. For example, tadalafil primarily supports the blood-flow component of erectile function, while PT-141 acts on pathways involved in sexual desire and arousal. Oxytocin may be considered in selected situations involving sexual response or intimacy. Fountain starts by identifying the actual concern and then determines which treatment, if any, best matches it.
No. Hormones can have an important effect on sexual desire, but low libido can also be related to medications, stress, depression, anxiety, sleep, relationship factors, pain, cardiovascular health, and other medical conditions. If hormone testing is appropriate, Fountain can incorporate it into the evaluation, but we do not assume that every change in sexual desire is caused by testosterone or estrogen.
Fountain evaluates sexual-health concerns in both men and women, but the appropriate treatment depends on the individual and the specific issue being addressed. Different medications affect desire, arousal, blood flow, and hormonal pathways in different ways. Your clinician will consider your symptoms, medical history, medications, hormones when relevant, and treatment goals before recommending an option.
That can provide useful information. If erectile function improves but desire remains low, for example, the problem may not have been primarily vascular. Similarly, normal hormone levels do not rule out other causes of low libido or reduced arousal. Rather than simply increasing medication, Fountain reassesses what may be contributing and adjusts the treatment plan accordingly.
Yes. A number of commonly used medications can affect libido, arousal, orgasm, erectile function, or other aspects of sexual health. Your clinician will review your current medications as part of the evaluation. Do not stop a medication on your own because you suspect it is affecting sexual function. In many cases, there may be ways to address the concern while preserving the benefits of the medication you are already taking.
